Well as a Right Wing Conservative, when you've lost the NYDaily News, you've lost, and there is no comeback to try to 'put lipstick on this pig!' http://www.nydailynews.com/... And as you probably know by now, the Twitter hastag #47traitors is trending very highly. This has stirred up a firestorm of justifiable outrage. Traitor is too kind a word.
Did you know that there is also a petition to the White House to make these 47 Traitors accountable under the Logan Act: SIGN THE PETITION HERE
It was put up on March 9 and expires on April 8 and 100,000 signatures are needed. Today, March 10 at 11EST, it has 2004 signatures.
TEXT OF THE PETITION:
WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO:There has been a discussion on this site about whether or not the Logan Act applies. It seems to me that if the White House got the 100,000 signatures:
Senator Tom Cotton's letter to Iran is a direct violation of the Logan Act and should be prosecuted.Senator Tom Cotton and 46 others have written an Open Letter to the Iranian Government as an attempt to influence and interfere with our President's current negotiations.
This is a violation of the Logan Act, a United States federal law that forbids unauthorized citizens from negotiating with foreign governments. It was passed in 1799 and last amended in 1994. Violation of the Logan Act is a felony, punishable under federal law with imprisonment of up to three years.
1) that it would force it to address this issue of the Logan Act; a test case, if you will, gaining clarification about what this act means vis a vis congresspersons.
2) it would also be a means to make a public statement of protest about what we think of this traitorous behaviour. And to let the public know that we feel that they SHOULD be tried for treason.
3) And even if the Logan Act does not apply, it would be a good tool to remind other representatives, both blue and red, that it will not go well for them if they try to engage in their own brand of treasonous subversion. Hopefully this will put steel in the backs of the Dems to not allow a vote on the Congressional bill to force Congressional approval of the Iran agreement.
4) It would keep the uproar in the news, so that going into elections, anyone (and I'm looking at you Paul and Cruz,) who has had notions of running for president is going to be dogged by chants and placards to remind them of their traitorous behaviour in being part of the "Iranian 47."
So, think about it. I think that the plus' are many in signing this petition.
